As parents, many of us have a love/hate relationship with social media. However, one aspect of social media I love are the content creators who share so many helpful tips and resources for learning languages on Instagram. Yes, you read that right. Instagram isn’t just about posting photos and images of your last vacation. It can also be used for language learning. For those of us who are passionate about learning languages, here is a list of five must-follow Instagram accounts for raising multilingual kids, in addition to those among our own members.

As a parent of young polyglots myself, I follow these 5 creative, entertaining, and very helpful accounts. I believe they will inspire you to continue the hard work to ensure the kids in your lives have the best chance to not only retain but fall in love with languages. Don’t forget to also check out the many MKB members that also focus on raising multilingual kids!

I love Naomi’s account because she busts the myth that you have to be multilingual to raise multilingual kids. It can be very overwhelming to start languages with kids when you are not fluent, but she is a wealth of knowledge and shares her ups and downs candidly and authentically which makes her content that much more engaging. She focuses on sharing music, art, and ways to use nature exploration and activities to learn Spanish. However, you can use these creative ideas in any target language your family or classroom is learning.

I love Shannon’s integration of learning culture into learning languages. When she is sharing a resource in French, she is sharing how to appreciate French art, food, and music. Her goal is teaching global citizenship alongside learning languages which as an international teacher, I am also very passionate about. Shannon shares so many valuable infographics that show the progression of language learning as well.

Michelle, who is a polyglot, in her journey to language learning, thank to her feed, which is visually very soothing. With so much distraction on social media, you immediately feel a calm in the storm when you come across her page. Michelle will not teach you a language strictly speaking, but will give you tips and pieces of advice. This is ideal for tweens/teens who can utilize her goal setting and organizational tips.
