Another summer season is coming to an end, and with it so is our Read Around The World Summer Reading Series.  We are so thankful for multicultural bloggers (and friends) from around the world who have shared their favorite kid lit from around the world who make this possible.

We were especially excited to add Instagram as a social media platform to share their recommendations!  Below are just a few.  However, you can see all of them on our  Read Around The World Summer Reading Series Pinterest board with over 190+ recommendations from over 50+ countries from across the globe!  Take a look, and make sure to save it and/or Pin it.

Although good things must come to an end, in our case it won’t… we’ll just catch you next summer!

I'm so happy to be joining bloggers from around the world once again for the @multiculturalkidblogs annual Read Around the World Summer Series! Travel the world from the comfort of your own home or library with the recommendations from this series. My choice for this year is: • Book title: Marti's Song for Freedom • Author: Emma Otheguy • Language: English and Spanish (Bilingual) • Country/Culture: Cuba This is the most recently released picture book featuring a Latino poet, and it is a beautiful tribute to the Cuban poet and activist, José Martí. Beautifully written, it is the story of Martí's life, how and why he left Cuba and his subsequent fight for Cuba's independence. With gorgeous illustrations by Beatriz Vidal, the book also includes excerpts from Marti's most famous work, "Versos sencillos." Ages 7-12 See the cover on the next image. #mkbkids #ReadtheWorldMKB #raisingreaders #reading #literacy #LatinoLit #latinokidsread #summerlearning #childhoodunplugged #raisingglobalcitizens #globalkids

We are excited about our annual Read Around the World Summer Series where bloggers from across the globe will be sharing their recommendations to beat the summer slide. . . Today it's our turn to make another great recommendation for tweens! My 10 year old loves it!  It's an English/Spanish flip book (swipe to see my own Mister Malo reading the book in Spanish). . . Book title:  The Shameless Shenanigans of Mister Malo/ Las terribles travesuras de Mister Malo  Author: Alidis Vicente Language: English/Spanish  Country/Culture: Puerto Rican/USA . . The setting of this story is ideal for kids in elementary school, and  perfect for my own 4th-grade child.  Lance, is a Puerto Rican kid in fourth grade that leads a double life.  He is Mister Malo and he is on a mission to help kids deal with the troublemakers. He has his own mailbox where students can request his services.  After scheming his revenge for a plea for help that doesn’t go as planned things start to get interesting!  It’s a perfect book to help kids deal with the dynamics of peer-pressure, popularity, and bullying. . . Let us know in the comments below if you have any good bilingual chapter books for tweens.  Also, check out the link in my profile under "Instagram Featured Post" for more recommendations. . . . . . . . . . . . . #mkbkids #booklover #bookish #bookstagram#booksforkids  #childrensliterature  #kidsbooks  #mkbkids  #picturebook  #childrensbook  #kidlit  #weneeddiversebooks  #raiseareader  #multicultural  #librosniños  #literaturainfantil  #childrenliteracy  #art  #illustration  #bookstagram  #instabooks #bookworm #spanishbook #bilingualbooks #bilingualbooksforkids

Our hearts are with Puerto Rico, still struggling to recover from last year's devastating hurricane. Here is a beautiful #bilingual activity book from @delighted_hearts to teach your kids about the Island of Enchantment! It covers topics as varied as history, geography, government, religion, sports, food, and the arts, with nearly 200 workbook pages (plus answer keys). It targets elementary school children and even older, though my younger kids loved the coloring! Even better, all of the profits from the first year of its publication go to recovery efforts in Puerto Rico. This book is a true labor of love, dedicated to the author’s homeland during its time of need. #ReadtheWorldMKB #ReadYourWorld #booksofinstagram #bookstagram #books #childrensbooks #homeschooling #homeschool #homeschoolmom #kbnmoms #momsoninstagram #kbnhms #mkbkids #instagood #instabooks #instakids #puertorico

I'm so excited to be joining @multiculturalkidblogs annual Read Around the World Summer Series where bloggers from across the globe will be sharing their recommendations to beat the summer slide. . . Here's mine! Let me know in the comments below if you have any good recommendations. Thanks! . . Book title: Ibi's Fireflies Author: Third Grade Students of Willow Lane Elementary School in Macungie, Pennsylvania Language: English Country/Culture: Nigeria . . Ibi was in a car with his dad and they saw some fireflies. Ibi’s dad stopped the car and found a jar in the trunk so Ibi could catch some and have a closer look at them. Ibi felt heartbroken when his father said that Ibi must release them back into the night or they would die. Although Ibi understood this, it still made him sad. To help Ibi feel better, his father told him that in the night the fireflies turned into stars. Ibi compared the two and they twinkled similarly so he believed his father and released the fireflies into the night. After that, when Ibi saw fireflies he would gently push them up into the sky to twinkle. Written by and illustrated by the Mrs. Dweck's Third Grade Students of Willow Lane Elementary School in Macungie, Pennsylvania after listening to a childhood experience from Ibiyinka Alao, they learned to paint in Ibi's style and have won awards with this book. We are so excited to join @multiculturalkidblogs annual Read Around the World Summer Series where bloggers from around the world will be sharing their recommendations to beat the summer slide. 📖🌎🌞 * * Joy Sun Bear will be sharing his review on a book that shares the country of Egypt!! 🇪🇬 The adventure book we are sharing with you is: * * Book Title: Travels with Gannon & Wyatt-Egypt Authors: Patti Wheeler and Keith Hemstreet Language: English Country/Culture: Egypt 🇪🇬 * * The book is written like journal, so you get to experience the story from both Gannon and Wyatt's points of view. In this fun fiction story based off of what they learned in real-life, Gannon and Wyatt are asked to visit Egypt by famous archeologist who joins them on an adventure to discover a long-lost tomb of the Pharaoh of Cleopatra. The tomb is said to contain extraordinary treasures and secret scrolls that may unlock some of Egypt's greatest mysteries! But Gannon and Wyatt have to be careful as they have some tomb robbers who are following them to get to the tomb first. Uh oh! I don't want to give the entire story away, but Gannon and Wyatt have to find the courage within to face several dangers, like deadly traps, scary creatures and ancient curses, in order to find this special discovery.
