Get ready to party with Multicultural Children’s Book Day! On the last Friday of every January, parents, caregivers, educators, authors, illustrators, and publishers come together for to promote and celebrate diverse books and help get them into the hands of children. Read on for details of how you can get involved!

Multicultural Children’s Book Day 2022

Books can act as windows and mirrors for children, yet too many children do not see themselves in books. In fact, children are more likely to read a book with animals than with diverse characters. That is why we continue to support Multicultural Children’s Book Day as a co-host and book reviewer. It is a wonderful way to celebrate new diverse children’s books and get them to children who will love them.

Find out how you can celebrate and read on for details about this year’s celebration, including our huge Twitter party tonight 1/28/22 and the giant linky of diverse children’s book reviews!

Multicultural Children’s Book Day

Multicultural Children’s Book Day 2022 (1/28/22) is in its 9th year! This non-profit children’s literacy initiative was founded by Valarie Budayr and Mia Wenjen; two diverse book-loving moms who saw a need to shine the spotlight on all of the multicultural books and authors on the market while also working to get those books into the hands of young readers and educators.

MCBD’s mission is to raise awareness of the ongoing need to include kids’ books that celebrate diversity in homes and school bookshelves. Read about our Mission & History HERE.
