Last year we had such a wonderful time celebrating babies born/to be born in 2014! I would know – I had a baby myself last year and our Virtual Baby Shower was dedicated to me among others. We also have a collection of Birth Experiences from around the world!
So this year I decided to “spice it up” and create baby shower printables that say “It’s a boy! It’s a girl!” in several languages (with the help of other MKB bloggers) and that can be used for a gender reveal party, baby shower or when the baby is welcomed home. You will see them in 17 languages at the end of the post!
Having a baby has always been a big deal in different cultures and it still is. However, having a baby shower is not a common tradition in all countries. In China, for example, pregnancy is not officially announced till after 12 weeks. But you can actually see a pregnant woman from afar: they start wearing bulky clothes, their pace of walking changes, and they take more precautions in everything. In Russia, where I am from, there is also no baby shower; however, many families do something like a baby-reveal/baby-welcome party at 30 days. Traditionally it is not common to take an infant under 30 days out into public, but after 30 days people are welcome to come with gifts and blessings.
This year MKB is so happy to celebrate with several members who had/are having a baby in the year 2015:
Becky of Kid World Citizen
Lisa of Squishable Baby
Rita of Multilingual Parenting (becoming a grandma!)
Anna of Multicultural Kitchen
Eolia of La Cite de Vents
Leanna of All Done Monkey
Olena of Bilingual Kids Rock
Marianna of Bilingual Avenue
Rina of Finding Dutch Land
Souad of Babel Kid
We will also be having a Virtual Baby shower from May 10th through May 17th on our Facebook page and on Instagram. Please stop by and leave your wishes, advice, and share your experiences! Please also give some love to the blogs above! You can also follow along with the hashtag #mkbbabies.
