7 Quotes to Empower and Inspire Women

Today I would like to share with you 7 of my favorite quotes to empower and inspire women. As a mom to girls, I find this to be an important topic. But, as you read on, you will discover that there are other reasons to share these messages.

“The world of humanity is possessed of two wings: the male and the female. So long as these two wings are not equivalent in strength, the bird will not fly. Until womankind reaches the same degree as man, until she enjoys the same arena of activity, extraordinary attainment for humanity will not be realized; humanity cannot wing its way to heights of real attainment. When the two wings or parts become equivalent in strength, enjoying the same prerogatives, the flight of man will be exceedingly lofty and extraordinary.”

~ Abdu’l-Baha

As we know, March is Women’s History Month. There is a lot that can be said about this subject. For one, it is still vitally important, for humanity’s well-being, to continue raising strong and independent women. Our existence is about balance. Balance cannot be achieved without bringing women to their intended levels of awareness and education.

This month is not just about empowering women and giving them the tools they need. We also need to educate men so they understand what it means for everyone to have equal access to knowledge and opportunities. This is essential for both our current and future generations.

7 Quotes to Empower and Inspire Women

“We have so much power in our minds, so much force inside the human being, that if we used it a hundred per cent we would be astonished at what we could do” – Ruhiyyih Khanum

“Each time a woman stands up for herself, without knowing it possibly, without claiming it, she stands up for all women.” – Maya Angelou

“I raise up my voice – not so that I can shout, but so that those without a voice can be heard….We cannot all succeed when half of us are held back.” – Malala Yousufzai

“Women belong in all places where decisions are being made. It shouldn’t be that women are the exception.” – Ruth Bader Ginsburg

“We’ve begun to raise daughters more like sons…but few have the courage to raise our sons more like our daughters.” – Gloria Steinem

“I can promise you that women working together – linked, informed and educated – can bring peace and prosperity to this forsaken planet.” – Isabelle Allende

“There is no limit to what we, as women, can accomplish.” – Michelle Obama

But, What Can I Do with These Quotes?

Quotes are powerful, especially if a person interacts with them. Take time to think about the quote and how it applies to your own situation. For instance, once a week, choose a quote to reflect upon and discuss with others. If you would like to further enrich your learning, you could always research and read more about the woman who said the quote. This could lead to a nice lesson/unit for your home studies with your children. You could even use it with students in a classroom.

On my blog you can read how I empower my multicultural girls, a letter I wrote to them, as well as a post on quotes about women from various religious writings
